Classic White Shirt – Non Iron
Here’s a great white shirt available online from M&S.
Timelessly appealing, this smart, long sleeve shirt combines the classic versatility of crisp white cotton with a convenient non-iron design. The shirt is button fastening with a breast pocket and is completed with a modern cutaway collar and French cuffs give a formal air of distinction.
Available in collar sizes from 14.5 to 18.5. Personally I prefer a shirt collar to be a slightly fuller fit as I find that more comfortable during a long day.

White Is The New Striped
Over the weekend the Telegraph reported that sales of plain white shirts are increasing as the credit crisis forces men to ditch the bright stripes and contrasting collars associated with the excess of the City’s boom years. Fans of the late eighties film Wall Street will no doubt remember the infamous “greed is good” character Gordon Gekko (pictured). Mr Gekko was indeed a fan of a blue stripe shirt with contrasting cut-away collar. As it transpired, greed wasn’t so good for Gekko afterall.
Of course a white shirt gives you more options as one can worn as smart casual wear as well as to the office …two shirts for the price of one! Department store Debenhams has seen an increase in sales of some 50% for white shirts and specialist shirt company Thomas Pink is setting up dedicated counters for white shirts at some of its outlets.
